Oxley Wild Rivers National Parks

Balancing Rock. This was right along the highway on our way into Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. The rest of the way in was on 27 kilometers of bumpy gravel road.

Dangars Falls was in the beautiful Gara Gorge.

Gara Gorge. The picture can’t do justice to just how spectacular and deep this gorge was.

We hiked around to the other side and got this view from above the falls.

On the way back along the top of the gorge we surprised these two roos. They surprised us too!!!

We have seen several “well duh” signs and this was one of them.

The water was below the bridge so we felt it was safe to cross. The sign had told us about some Blue Holes so we went hunting for them. The problem was that every trail we followed led us to a dead end. Okay now we have signs, but no attraction. Go figure!!!

This was the start of the walking track for Apsley Falls. These were beautiful and have quite a history.

This little platform was cantilevered out over the gorge. We climbed a hundred and twenty-two steps down to it. The first set of wooden steps built back in the early 1900’s went clear to the bottom of the gorge.

The full drop of the falls lets you see just how far down those first set of steps had to have gone. This shot is from the opposite side of the gorge.

The view from the lower falls after we hiked the 2.5 kilometers to the other side of the gorge. Well, I only did the half of it, but then I’m not a waterfall groupie either.
